Did you know that George Lucas pulled much of his inspiration for Star Wars from the iconic Japanese film maker Akira Kurosawa and the samurai history? Akira Kurosawa’s films were great in their own right, but they also led to the creation of many famous films and shows in the west. Lucas sited Kurosawa’s “The Hidden Fortress” as the inspiration for many aspects of the Original Star Wars films.

Kurosawa also inspired one of the most famous American cowboy films in history, “The Magnificent Seven”. His film “The Seven Samurai” is the original version and if you watch both films you’ll notice the similarities as clear as day. Being that I grew up working in the martial arts industry, I am partial to Kurosawa’s films over the American re-makes. It was said that in the seven samurai the stunt actors had live arrows shot into their wooden armor to add realisim to the battle scenes, CRAZY!
In Honor of the Samurai, Akira Kurosawa, his stuntmen and Miyamoto Musashi, we designed our own “HHMA Samurai” clothing and accesories.
